Press Release

Golden LEAF News - November 2009

Greetings!

As part of its ongoing commitment to workforce training, Golden LEAF recently provided support to the North Carolina's Eastern Region economic development partnership to complete a statewide workforce needs assessment for the emerging aerospace industry in North Carolina. In response to the findings, the Foundation created the Golden LEAF Opportunities for Work in Aerospace Manufacturing initiative (GLOW-AM) and requested proposals from training providers that address the workforce development challenges identified in the report.

At its November Board meeting, the Golden LEAF Foundation Board of Directors awarded over $4.2 million to address some of North Carolina's urgent workforce needs in the aerospace industry.

GLOW-AM projects are designed to strengthen training capacities in regions of the state that have high concentrations of aerospace manufacturing companies and maintenance, repair and overhaul operations. Click here for more information on the grant awards.

Golden LEAF’s Open Grants Program has a rolling application process. Click here to read about the program’s priorities and how to apply. The next deadline for the Economic Catalyst cycle is January 15, 2010. Click here for more information on this program.

Best,
Jenny
