The Board of Governors of the U.S. Eventing Association and the Board of Directors of the
Carolina Horse Park Foundation are delighted to announce that the inaugural American Eventing
Championships will take place September 24-28, 2003 at the Carolina Horse Park in
Raeford, North Carolina. The Championships will bring together approximately 500 of the Nation's
best horses and riders, who have qualified at competitions throughout the United States over the
previous twelve months, to compete for the U.S. Eventing Association's highest honors and $50,000
prize money. More than 15,000 spectators are expected to visit the park and salute the achievements
of these champions.
This will be the first time championships of this type will be offered to riders and horses at
all levels of the sport on American soil. Hailed as a "Festival of Eventing" this competition at the
Carolina Horse Park will include entertainment to suit all members of the family. Located near
Pinehurst in the heart of golf country, the Horse Park will be the place to plan an early fall
vacation. Many of our Olympic stars will be competing for top honors on their international horses
and will participate in demonstrations and forums designed to entertain the public.
Currently, the Carolina Horse Park is home to the Southern Pines Horse Trials, Longleaf Pine Horse Trials, Five Points Horse Trials, Southern Pines Hunter-Jumper Classic and the famed Stoneybrook Steeplechase Races.
The U.S. Eventing Association sanctions nearly 300 events each year across the United States and is dedicated to education, safety, equine welfare and the promotion of the Olympic equestrian sport of eventing.
