Community Development & Education
The Golden LEAF Foundation has made numerous grants to support projects that may be outside the clearly defined categories of job creation, agriculture, and workforce training, but which still help communities to overcome barriers to economic progress or enhance educational opportunities.
Community assistance and education grants are awarded to communities with clearly defined unmet needs.
In the past, we have funded projects that focus on education and other opportunities that support and develop economic strength in tobacco-dependent, economically distressed and/or rural communities.
Examples of projects funded in this area includes scholarships, teacher training, community collaboration and capacity building, and educational technology.

“Communities across North Carolina – particularly those hit hardest by economic transition – understand that reshaping teaching and learning in their high schools is essential to their vitality. Golden LEAF is helping them gather the tools they need, including the newest technology, to do this work.”
