Economic Development

The economic development projects that we fund focus on creating and retaining jobs, attracting new business to North Carolina, expanding industries and training new workers. We seek to involve companies that are committed to hiring or retaining workers, as well as projects that demonstrate a market demand for products. Public infrastructure improvement projects that are tied to specific job creation and retention opportunities are also included in this category.

Primarily, these grants are meant to create, expand, and/or improve business activity in tobacco-dependent, economically distressed and/or rural communities
