Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Thomasville City Schools to develop an Academy of Advanced Manufacturing and Design Innovation. The goal is to increase the pipeline of skilled workers trained as technicians prepared for employment opportunities in manufacturing. This initiative consists of a partnership between Davidson County Community College and Thomasville City Schools that is designed to increase student participation in Career and College Promise (CCP) in targeted programs and other dual enrollment opportunities. Students are expected to earn industry-recognized credentials such as the Certified Production Technician, Siemens Certification, and the Career Readiness Certificate, and to have opportunities to gain work experience through internship and apprenticeship opportunities with industry partners. Funding for this project will be used for course materials and equipment for high school Career and Technical Education classes.
