Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Central Carolina Community College to encourage students to pursue high school dual enrollment programs — a well-documented predictor of post-secondary educational achievement.CCCC will do this by placing an advisor in each of the high schools in Chatham, Harnett, and Lee Counties.The program will equip more members of the tri-county workforce with career- and skills-enhancing certificates, diplomas, and degrees.Advisors will work with students, parents, faculty, and administrators to encourage enrollment in CCCC coursework.CCCC expects 15% of juniors and seniors in area high schools to enroll in CCCC coursework, an increase of 300% above current participation rates.Approximately 75% of those participating in the courses are expected to pursue Career and Technical Education courses.Golden LEAF funds will be used for personnel, and is expected to be complemented by over $800,000 in funding from other sources, including local businesses.
