Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide continued support to Teach for America (TFA) to improve short- and long-term student achievement in economically distressed areas of northeastern North Carolina. Based on the belief that teachers from North Carolina are more likely to remain in their placement community, Teach for America will increase efforts to attract teachers with strong connections to the State and work with other educational leaders including the NC Department of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education to develop a TFA best practices model for the State to increase participation and placement of NC residents as teachers to boost the number of highly skilled teachers in economically distressed communities of the state.
