Organization:
County of Craven
Amount:
$520,745.00
Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Craven
Year:
2017
Description:

Hurricane Matthew and tropical storms Hermine and Julia generated a significant amount of debris in the streams and tributaries of Craven County, impeding drainage and posing future flood risks in the county. This grant will enable Craven County to repair and clear blocked drainage infrastructure. Planned work will include cutting and removing downed trees and woody debris. The project will reduce the likelihood of future flooding and the duration of flooding events. This project will also help prevent possible damage to utilities such as wastewater treatment facilities, sewer pump stations, and private septic systems.
