Disaster Recovery Grant Program

Description:

Flooding resulting from Hurricane Matthew caused significant damage to several Robeson County public school facilities. This Golden LEAF grant will support repairs to W.H. Knuckles Elementary, West Lumberton Elementary, and the school system’s transportation department. Funds will also support relocation of the school system’s central office and maintenance warehouse. Funding from FEMA is not sufficient to repair and replace these facilities. Golden LEAF grant funds will also allow the Public Schools of Robeson County to meet the deductible on its insurance through North Carolina Department of Instruction and access insurance proceeds that will be used for this work.
