Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Bladen
Year:
2017
Description:

Flooding from Hurricane Matthew severely damaged the Town-owned building used by the Elizabethtown Volunteer Rescue Squad. To mitigate flooding in the area, FEMA funding will be used to demolish the building. The Town has identified a site within the downtown area large enough to accommodate the Volunteer Rescue Squad and Elizabethtown Fire Department. This co-location is expected to result in better service to the town and surrounding unincorporated areas. Town funds will be used to acquire the site. This Golden LEAF grant will support design, engineering, and renovation of a new station.
