ENC Residency: Transforming Teacher Preparation in Eastern North Carolina

Organization:
Teach for America
Amount:
$127,233.20
Program Area:
Open Grants Program
County of Applicant:
Durham
Year:
2016
Description:

This grant provides funding to Teach for America (TFA) to assist with the development of a new residency training program, Eastern North Carolina Residency, that will provide training for corps members in northeastern North Carolina. By training teachers in the region where they will be placed, teachers will know the communities better and establish roots in eastern North Carolina, hopefully encouraging more TFA corp members to stay in eastern North Carolina after their 2-year commitment with Teach for America is complete. Teach for America anticipates recruiting approximately 120 incoming corps members who will be supported through ENC Residency in the summer of 2016. Golden LEAF funds will be used for program-related expenses.
