The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to assist Western Carolina University with expanding the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) program through its Kimmel School of Construction Management and Technology to the Asheville/ Hendersonville area by establishing the engineering program at the Biltmore Park campus. This expansion will address strong demand for engineering talent and certifications by regional partners and industry. Successful implementation of the project will enhance the university’s training capabilities in advanced manufacturing, establish a valuable engineering pathway for students at area community colleges, and develop comprehensive training programs to address short-term engineering needs in the region through continuing education courses. Partners include Asheville-Buncombe Technical, Blue Ridge, and Isothermal community colleges.
