Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the North Carolina Community College System for continued support of the Golden LEAF Scholars-Two-Year Colleges program (the “Program”). Eligible students must reside in a rural North Carolina county that is econmoically distressed (designated Tier 1 or Tier 2 under the North Carolina Department of Commerce three tier system), or that is tobacco dependent, and must demonstrate need under the Federal TRIO Programs formula. The grant will provide scholarships to curriculum and continuing education students to help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation and childcare for the 2015-2016 fall, spring, and summer semesters. Scholarship amounts available are up to $750 for curriculum students and up to $250 for continuing education students. Participating community colleges opt in to the Program.
