Description:

With this grant, Bladen County Schools will implement a project that will give students the tools needed to prepare them for employment opportunities in a global economy. Students and teachers in grades 5-8 will receive an IPod touch. Teachers will be trained to effectively use it as an instructional tool in the classroom. Goals of the project include 1) preparing students to enter the 21st Century’s global market and workforce; 2) changing the role of students to creators, disseminators and implementers of knowledge; and 3) emphasizing student-directed and cross-generational learning. Outcomes will include an increase in academic rigor, closing the achievement gap for high-need students, and an increase in performance in reading, math, science, social studies and geography.
