Description:

The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to support the field-testing of new varieties of peanuts in North Carolina. The North Carolina Agricultural Foundation and the NC Peanut Growers Association will conduct this joint, one-year project that will speed delivery of new, high-yielding varieties of peanuts to the North Carolina peanut farmers; expand peanut production in North Carolina by identifying superior, high-oleic, runner-type peanuts; facilitate the evaluation of processing quality of new varieties of peanuts; and, provide marketing opportunities for new types of peanuts for North Carolina peanut farmers.
