Description:

This grant supplies funding for public electrical infrastructure to support the location of ACG Worldwide, in Greenville, NC. AGC is based in Mumbai, India, and is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of gelatin capsules and other packaging used in the pharmaceutical industry. It also considered locations in Georgia and South Carolina for this project. This facility will be AGC’s first manufacturing site in the United States. The company will invest approximately $90 million in the 215,000-square-foot facility and will hire 400 employees with an average wage of $48,337, approximately $10,000 above the Pitt County average. The site of the new facility is in the Indigreen Corporate Park, which is owned by the Pitt County Committee of 100, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. To provide adequate and redundant electrical service to the company, the Greenville Utilities Commission will build a 115kV distribution substation in the park. This additional capacity will also serve other businesses that locate or expand in the park. Golden LEAF funds will be used for the substation.
