Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Davie County Schools for the “Innovative Spaces and Instruction in STEM and CTE” initiative at the new Davie County High School that opens in the fall of 2017. The project is designed to improve high school students’ employability in two critical areas: technical skills and soft skills. Support from Golden LEAF will provide Davie County High School with learning spaces for students and prepare STEM and Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers and staff to use project-based instructional practices to enhance student learning. A STEM Innovation Lab and state-of-the-art CTE labs will be used to support industry-aligned learning options designed to strengthen students’ technical skills and their ability to engage in critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and other employability skills required for success in the 21st-century workplace. Golden LEAF funds will be used to purchase STEM and CTE equipment and materials, and provide professional development for teachers and staff.
