Law Enforcement Center Generator Relocation

Organization:
County of Greene
Amount:
$80,906.55
Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Greene
Year:
2018
Description:

The Greene County law enforcement center is attached to the Greene County Courthouse in downtown Snow Hill. The existing generator provides backup power during outages to maintain law enforcement communication and to accommodate inmates. During Hurricane Matthew, floodwaters surrounded the generator, preventing direct access for refueling. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funding will be used to relocate the generator an area adjacent to the law enforcement center. Relocation will elevate the generator out of the 500-year floodplain and ensure continuous access to maintain electrical service during an outage.
