Organization:
Town of Fountain
Amount:
$375,667.20
Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Pitt
Year:
2017
Description:

Hurricane Matthew caused rapid stormwater runoff that contributed to the failure of stormwater infrastructure under Mill Street in the Town of Fountain. Failure is evidenced by sinkholes in Fountain’s stormwater right-of-way and partial collapse of sections of the street. This stormwater infrastructure supports one of Fountain’s four drainage basins, which consists of approximately 52 residences, 10 businesses, and other commercial buildings. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funding will be used to replace the existing stormwater infrastructure under Mill Street to avoid further damage.
