Palestine-Badin Water System Improvements

Organization:
County of Stanly
Amount:
$500,000.00
Program Area:
Community-Based Grants Initiative
County of Applicant:
Stanly
Year:
2017
Description:

This grant provides funding to Stanly County for a new drinking water interconnection between Stanly County Utilities and its water supplier, the City of Albemarle, and a new pump station. The infrastructure will provide water to the Palestine-Badin area, improving water quality, eliminating pressure problems, and increasing energy efficiency in the system. This new pump station will serve the more than 3,000 residents in the area, the Stanly County Airport, the Prime Power Industrial Park, and the Badin Industrial Park. Without the new infrastructure, the water system could not accommodate new significant water users in these industrial parks. This project will result in a $1.5 million investment in new public infrastructure and the creation of 200 new jobs within three years. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction.
