Open Grants Program

Columbus
Year:
2016
Description:

This Golden LEAF grant provides funding to Columbus County to renovate the county-controlled Business Development Center in the Tabor Industrial Park to accommodate RadixBay. RadixBay is a Charlotte-based business IT consulting and solutions company that will locate an IT support center in Columbus County. The company’s owner, a Columbus County native, believes that the business can successfully compete with offshore customer support centers by hiring rural workers at wages that are competitive in their home communities. The company has contracts that will allow it to hire 25 employees over two years at this Columbus County location. These jobs are expected to pay over $39,000 annually, significantly more than the county average wage of $32,292. Golden LEAF funds will be used to renovate and improve the facility for lease to the business.
