The equipment will be used to support training programs offered by Columbus County Schools and Southeastern Community College to prepare individuals for potential employment at Plygem Holdings and at other plastics-manufacturing companies in the region. Plygem Holdings will create 127 jobs at an average annual wage of $46,268 plus benefits by June 30, 2016. Eighty of those positions would be equipment operators earning an average of $42,000/year plus benefits. Plygem Holdings has committed to locate these new jobs in Columbus County and has indicated that training workers as skilled production technicians using the equipment purchased with this Golden LEAF grant is essential to the success of the project.
