Description:

This grant provides funding to the Town of Pembroke to extend a sewer line to serve development along Prospect Road to the east and northeast of UNC-Pembroke. Prospect Road is currently under construction and the town and the University are working collaboratively to ensure appropriate infrastructure upgrades are installed with the road improvements. The university will start construction in 2019 on a $36 million School of Business located on Prospect Road. The university is also experiencing dramatic growth in enrollment—14% this year—and additional commercial development is expected along Prospect Road. The infrastructure will also serve 40 acres of land owned by the university on which the university plans to construct a School of Health Sciences. Golden LEAF funds will be used for costs associated with the installation of a sewer main.
