This grant will assist the Henderson-Vance Downtown Development Commission with the transformation of an abandoned tobacco warehouse in a low-wealth community near downtown Henderson into 90,000 square feet of usable space that will spur economic development and provide community services. The Commission has received letters of intent for the purchase or lease of space from the Boys and Girls Club, Henderson Collegiate Charter School, Vance-Granville Community College, a non-profit organization and a local physician. It is anticipated that approximately 70-100 new livable-wage jobs will be created as a result of this project.
