This project identifies opportunities to use landfill gas for economic development in rural counties. This second year of funding will provide continued technical assistance for plan implementation in the four counties (Columbus, Robeson, Rockingham, McDowell) identified in Phase I, identification and technical assistance for four additional rural counties with substantial landfill gas resources, and the establishment of development initiatives for landfill gas. The grantee will also research implications of various patterns of waste deposition on collection of landfill gas.
