Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) to enhance its Aviation Science Program (ASP) and position ECSU as a hub for aviation education. Specifically, the ASP will: 1) revamp the Aviation Sciences curriculum to meet FAA authorization and AABI Accreditation standards; 2) develop an Unmanned Aerospace Systems (UAS) Operations and Management concentration in collaboration with NCSU; 3) establish 2+2 articulation agreements with community colleges, a SOCCOAST agreement with the US Coast Guard, and MOAs with public school districts; 4) develop online and hybrid courses to grow its distance education programs; and, 5) establish a K-12 outreach program centered on a regional High School Design Competition. ECSU expects that as a result of these changes, enrollment and the 4 year graduation rate in the ASP will increase.
