The goals of the CDI are to create new 21st Century “knowledge economy” jobs to replace the jobs being lost in textile, furniture and tobacco manufacturing, to make the region nationally know for its preeminence in design and to accelerate the growth of the emerging design cluster in the Piedmont Triad. The result will be research and creative initiatives that will generate jobs, spin-off companies and foster entrepreneurial activities.
