Town of Calypso Flood Study

Organization:
Town of Calypso
Amount:
$177,165.58
Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Duplin
Year:
2020
Description:

Several areas within the Town of Calypso were flooded during Hurricane Florence. No portion of the town is located within the floodplain; therefore, the town concludes flooding during Hurricane Florence and other major rain events is the result of inadequate stormwater infrastructure. Golden LEAF disaster recovery grant funds will be used to conduct a study to evaluate flooding and drainage issues and identify potential mitigation projects. The town intends to use the information from the study to inform future grant applications to state and federal disaster recovery programs. The town is also considering implementing a stormwater fee to fund improvements.
