Trenton Volunteer Fire Department Station Replacement

Organization:
Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
Amount:
$500,000.00
Program Area:
Hurricane Florence Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Jones
Description:

Hurricane Florence flooded the town-owned fire station building used by the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department. The current station is located next to the Trent River and Brock Mill Pond. The building previously flooded as a result of Hurricane Floyd and other heavy rain events. Because the station is in the floodplain, the Trenton VFD proposes to relocate the building to higher ground. Insurance proceeds and Trenton Volunteer Fire Department funds will be used to purchase land and replacement contents including furniture, appliances, and workout equipment. Golden LEAF Hurricane Florence Disaster Recovery grant funds will be used for planning and site preparation for the new station.
