Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Mitchell County to support a $1.9 million shovel-ready project that will extend wastewater lines from Mitchell County High School to the Spruce Pine wastewater processing plant. The project will provide the needed infrastructure for processing wastewater from Mitchell County High School, the county Senior Center, Emergency Medical Services, Ledger Volunteer Fire Department and the Mitchell County Board of Education. The infrastructure will help to open up Hwy226N for economic development and will prevent future discharges into contributory streams of the North Toe River.
