The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) to support its existing welding program through the addition of two course offerings not currently available to students, which will prepare them with skills identified by local companies. Through this project, VGCC expects to meet the expressed needs of local industry partners for enhanced training in CNC, plasma, and robotic welding equipment. Projected outcomes for the program include increased job opportunities for welding program graduates and skill enhancement among incumbent workers. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment, instructor salary, and instructor travel related to training on new equipment.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
