Operations Manager

The Golden LEAF Foundation seeks a motivated, detail-oriented, quick learner to join the team at Golden LEAF to serve as Operations Manager. The Operations Manager reports directly to the President/CEO and is responsible for managing information technology, daily office operations, and facility maintenance. The Administrative Assistant for Operations and External Affairs reports to this position. This is a full-time in-person position based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Primary Functions
Information Technology

  • Develop, update, and implement policies and procedures related to the Foundation’s use of IT
  • Work with technology providers and IT consultant to maintain and upgrade Golden LEAF’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity environment, user hardware, and software applications
  • Maintain and manage Golden LEAF’s VOIP phone system
  • Evaluate and recommend technology and information systems improvements including computer applications, hardware and conferencing platforms related to essential functions of Golden LEAF
  • Collaborate across administrative and programs functions within the Foundation to identify, research, test, and implement technology solutions
  • Coordinate system security, backup, and recovery of computer files
  • Daily monitoring of backup reports, spam reports, and other updates from the technology provider 
  • Manage IT equipment inventory

Operations and Building Maintenance

  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure Golden LEAF’s systems support the staff’s work seamlessly, effectively, and efficiently
  • Serve as a point of contact for various technological, administrative, and service providers with support from the Administrative Assistant for Operations and External Affairs (for example, HVAC, electricians, landscapers)
  • Supervise Administrative Assistant for Operations and External Affairs to support management of day-to-day operations
  • Oversee facilities planning, maintenance, construction/renovation, interior improvements, furniture allocation, equipment, storage, and all functions related to the function and appearance of the office
  • Procure, negotiate and serve as contract manager for operations-related vendors 
  • Monitor and plan operating expenses (in coordination with the Controller) to ensure operating expenditures remain within budget (for example, device refresh schedules)
  • Support onboarding of new Golden LEAF employees

 Record Retention

  • Golden LEAF is a public records organization. In collaboration with the Senior Vice President/General Counsel, develop, manage, implement record retention procedures for physical and electronic records.

  • Must demonstrate the capacity to handle competing external and internal deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and temperament to pivot priorities on short notice is essential
  • Familiarity with rural North Carolina and attraction to the mission of the Golden LEAF Foundation is highly desired
  • Candidates located or willing to relocate to be within 30 miles of Rocky Mount are preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least four years of progressively responsible duties in operations management in a small business or nonprofit setting including management of IT; supervisory experience is a plus
  • Proven work experience highlighting strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects
  • Demonstrated proficiency in use of common software programs including Microsoft O365 including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Location and Work Schedule
This position will be based at the Golden LEAF office at 301 N. Winstead Avenue in Rocky Mount, NC. This position is expected to work from the office five days per week. 

Most Golden LEAF staff operate on a hybrid work schedule. However, due to the nature of the role, this position is not eligible for hybrid/work-from-home arrangements.

  • Operates in a professional office environment and performs primarily sedentary work.

  • Sits for prolonged periods at a desk. Frequent standing and walking. Occasional stooping, reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling.
  • Repetitive use of fingers and hands for typings and other tasks.
  • Frequent listening, speaking, and use of visual acuity.
  • Occasional lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to use all senses to safely drive a vehicle, and ability to drive a vehicle.

Compensation and Benefits
Operations Manager position is a full-time, professional position with compensation and benefits commensurate with responsibilities and experience. This position has an anticipated hiring range of $70,000 – $80,000, depending on qualifications and experience. 

Golden LEAF provides the following benefits to employees:

  • Golden LEAF paid contributions to a 403(b) retirement plan at the rate of ten percent (10%) of base salary with no required contribution by the employee. There is no waiting period for participation in the 403(b) retirement plan.
  • Enrollment in Golden LEAF’s medical insurance plan for the employee and dependents. The plan pays a benefit of 90% of medical costs once the deductible has been met. Golden LEAF contributes to a Health Savings Account (HSA) in the employee’s name to help offset the cost of the deductible. Golden LEAF pays all medical plan premiums, provided that premiums plus HSA contribution total less than $23,000. Medical insurance begins after the 30th day of employment.
  • Enrollment in Golden LEAF’s dental plan for the employee and dependents, maximum benefits are $1,000 per person in the plan year.
  • Enrollment in a vision coverage plan for the employee and dependents, at no cost to the employee.
  • Enrollment in a long-term disability insurance plan and a life insurance plan.
  • Annual leave and sick leave. Golden LEAF has 12 official holidays per year.
