Barbara B. Smith joined the Golden LEAF Foundation in June 2008 as a program officer. She evaluates grant proposals, supports the implementation of grant programs, and provides oversight for grant monitoring and compliance activities. With a background in program management, higher education and behavioral health she uses her experience to help the Foundation further its mission to improve the economies of rural North Carolina.
Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Carolina Central University and her master’s in counselor education with a concentration in student development in higher education at NC State University. She is a national certified counselor and a licensed professional counselor. Born and raised in Tarboro, Barbara shares her time and talents with several community organizations. She enjoys discussing fiction novels with her book club and trips with her family.
